Polypropylene
Polypropylene is renowned for its excellent resistance to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, and its ability to withstand temperatures up to +100°C. As a result polypropylene is widely used in chemical and pharmaceutical processing industries.
Durapipe polypropylene is manufactured from high heat stabilized polymers to prevent oxidation at elevated temperatures. The material is colored beige - grey to distinguish it from other grades used for less onerous applications.
A comprehensive range of pipe, fittings and valves is produced in both inch and metric sizes in accordance with British and international standards.
The inch sizes from 3/8" up to 4" is designed to be jointed by the socket fusion method which entails melting the surfaces to be joined using thermostatically controlled heating tools. The molten surfaces are brought into contact under controlled conditions so that they fuse together, and the resultant joints can be put into service and soon as the joint has cooled. Pressure ratings up yo Class E (PN15) are available.
Metric polypropylene pipework systems are available for jointing by either socket fusion or Durafuse electro fusion in sizes from 20mm up to 110mm. The Durafuse system offers a means of producing high integrity joints, consistently without the need for hot tooling or highly skilled labour. Both metric systems are pressure rated at 10 bar at 20°C.
