PVC-U
For simplicity, rigid unplasticised Polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), is often referred to as just PVC. A dependable engineering material, PVC-U is established worldwide as the material for process chemicals and industrial fluid handling. Among this materials outstanding characteristics is its excellent resistance to many acids, alkalis and chemical concentrates which allows for their safe transportation in pipework systems without the fear of corrosion or environmental pollution.
The operational temperature range of PVC-U pipework system is of +5°C to +60°C, but due to the poor impact properties of PVC at low temperatures, Durapipe does not recommend its use below zero °C. The system is non toxic and jointed by solvent cement welding. Durapipe pipe, valves and fittings are designed for a 50 year life when operated continuously at their maximum rated pressure at a temperature of 20°C.
Pipes are manufactured in inch sizes from ½" to 6" nominal bore to British Standards and from 20mm to 63mm outside diameter to international standards, whilst fittings are manufactured in inch sizes from 3/8" to 12" and metric from 12mm to 315mm.
