The background to this marine oil spillage Dispersent Spray Unit goes back to the days when the company was involved with the installation of a two pump system which relied on the pumps providing a fixed supply of seawater and oil dispersent at known rate. We had always thought that this method was inflexible and relied heavily on the efficiency of each pump to provide a correct ratio mix.
We
felt that the principle whereby a single self-priming pump able to deliver
more than the total flow requirement and suitably valved, particularly on
the suction inlet, would allow an inlet on the suction branch to "pick up"
the dispersent and also allow infinitely variable ratios. We added a flow
meter to the dispersent pick up, a relief by-pass and a manual valved by-pass
and the whole package was fitted within a carry/protection frame. Our next
step was to stay within the general principles of the package but to offer
an alternative means of powering the pump. We now offer electric motor driven
units in 380/3/50, 415/3/50, 440/3/60 and diesel drive. While the enquiry
has yet to arrive we see no reason why hydraulic drive should not be used.
The other option available is where the only power available is single phase.
This unit is supplied to pump neat dispersent.
Developing from the "OCEANMASTER," enquiries were received for spray boom sets. Having offered clients the option of a pumping package which simply required placing on site/ship and connecting to the services via quick connect couplings. We decided to design a package of optional length spray booms, flexible variable length dropper pipes, quick connect nozzles, block rigging and stays, all hoses and a mast/socket arrangement to allow for a quick welding attachment to for example a ships stanchion. To facilitate air freight requirements we also offer a socketed boom which dismantles to 3 metre lengths.
Availability, we have now reached a situation where we can normally offer the most commonly requested unit [electrically driven 415/440/3/50/60 ]from stock including a complete set of spray booms, nozzles and running rigging for shipment within hours. Coupled to this availability, our stockholding of components plus the companies willingness to meet emergency requirements means that we will attempt to meet other forms of this equipment.
